"Catfishing" is a deceptive activity where a person creates a fake identity or false persona on a social media or dating sites, usually with the goal of establishing a deceptive relationship to get money or leading someone on without any serious or true intention.

Whether catfishers are acting with true malicious intent or it's just a mean person trying to entertain themselves at your expense, he fact is that they are out there and it's something you need to be aware of.
